Rep. Bobby Rush D-Ill. takes off his jacket to wear a hoodie and sunglasses as a show of solidarity with those protesting the death of a Florida teen.
what happened to Trayvon Martin has really shed a new light on people’s true colors, or aka, racism still exists in it’s most ignorant, saddest state: denial. I just went onto youtube to see the video of Bobby Rush, and i scrolled down to the comment section, it was so disgusting. This is important. This is just showing the desperate attacks and defense mechanisms from people in america to veer this away from the fact that racism exists, but in doing so, their most truest and most ignorant opinions come out. People are calling people coons, uncle toms, words that resonate with times of America that people keep insinuating we have transcended. We haven’t transcended shit. Look how fast their ignorant defense mechanism comes out, look how fast white folks feel entitled to call other people hoodlums, niggers, ghetto. This is fucking disgusting. And with all that, can we still believe that this isn’t a racist-driven situation? Get it together, America. Get it together, legal system, oh and media.
This new defense of how Trayvon Martin is a troubled kid does nothing but take the responsibility away from the fact that an incompetent adult rent-a-cop with a gun shot a 17-year old holding skittles and a can of arizona when he saw a black teenager in a predominantly white neighborhood (oh, institutionalized racism). Put responsibility back where it belongs.
